The M9 is a 9mm pistol developed and manufactured by Beretta of Italy. It is currently the standard sidearm of the United States Armed Forces. The United States military adopted the 9mm pistol in 1985. It is essentially a military version of the Beretta 92FS civilian pistol.  

The 9mm pistol has a magazine capacity of 15 rounds. It is a semi-automatic pistol Ruger 10/22 that uses a recoil-operated, locked-breech design. But the 9mm pistol is chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge. The 9mm pistol has a DA/SA trigger mechanism with a decocking lever. 

The m9 a3 has a 4.9-inch barrel and an overall length of 8.5 inches. It weighs 33 ounces. But the M9 is a double-action pistol with a manual safety/decocking lever on the left side of the frame. Beretta in Italy manufactures the M9. Nexus ammunition is also manufactured under license by FN Herstal in Belgium and by Taurus in Brazil.

Is a 9mm pistol good?

9mm pistols are suitable for several things. But they are generally accurate, have a good magazine capacity, and are easy to control. They are also reasonably cheap, making them a good option for those on a budget.  

There are infrequent things to remember when considering a 9mm pistol:

1. Because they are small and lightweight, they can be challenging to control for those with larger hands.
2. The recoil can be more than some shooters are comfortable.
3. 9 mm pistols are not always the most powerful option, so keep that in mind when deciding.
