Smith and Wesson M&P Shield is a subcompact semi-automatic pistol designed for concealed carry. It is chambered in 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP. The Shield is an evolution of the popular M&P series of pistols and shares many features with its larger siblings. The most notable difference is its size; the Shield is significantly thinner and lighter than the M&P, making it easier to carry and conceal.
Smith and Wesson M&P Shield: The small size, 9mm breech, and portability help make this a great Glock 43 first gun for a beginner shooter. And while a shorter length and lower weight can often translate to more recoil, the M&P Shield Plus doesn’t fall into that trap.Â
Are the Smith and Wesson shield a good gun?
The original Smith and Wesson shield is a highly smooth gun without much texture. The Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 shield is very aggressive and just as bold as the Smith and Wesson M&P 2.0 compact.
Unlike most full-size 9mm pistols that hold fifteen rounds or more in a double-stack column, the M&P Shield 2.0 Smith and Wesson M&P Shield uses a single-column magazine that allows it to be solo-wide. Due to the 7-round single-stack magazine, it is much smaller in size. It offers a happy medium between compact and subcompact.
