Thanks to Beretta, you can now get a piece of the elite weapon in the form of the Manurhin MR73. That’s right, and Beretta has begun importing two different models of the Manurhin revolver, identified as the best revolver in the world. After almost fifty years of service as the first formal GIGN revolver, it has never been formally decommissioned. As a result, we’ve compiled a series of articles on the Manurhin revolver in the spirit of appreciation for historical firearms with exceptional design.
So, the MR73 was a standard issue with France’s Gendarmerie and some police units, including Special Weapons and Tactics teams (RAID, GIGN and comparable units). The GIGN selected the MR73 partly for its ability to withstand 150 rounds of full-power ammunition almost indefinitely during daily range practice.
